I don't know who is coaching there now, but I do know that when I was competing against them in the Big South Confrence they had a shot putter by the name of Wayne. He was pretty good and was able to get better every year. I would suggest going to the Confrence web site and checking to see their best throwers. If you could beat them that doesn't mean it isn't a good program so don't let that get into your head. I will say when I decided to go to UNC-Asheville out of the 4 schools that were looking at me, I looked at the facilities that I would be using, talked with the coach to find out what he know, and also looked at the school to make sure there was a place for me. In other words did I feel like I fit into the school. UNCA was small, the coach (formally a distance runner) know more about throwing than most throwers did, and I got a degree in Biology with small class sizes. Would not have changed my mind. All the other schools I checked out just didn't have the facilities that I liked when I was looking. So if you like it and you think you could gain from it, it would not hurt to do an official visit to check it out first hand.
Those are some national sites that promote all camps. Where are you from? That would be the best way to narrow your local camps. I know of two in Colorado, so let me know.
