TOPIC: ACL recovery

ACL recovery 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I am about six weeks post operation for an ACL graft, which means I won't be throwing until mid February and I am a senior in college. I had a lot of lofty goals (school records and such) that I wanted to reach and now that I have torn my ACL things are a bit more complicated.

Along with that the gym at my school is being renovated this year and our lifting equipment is essentially limited to dumbbells (which only go up to 35lbs) and a leg press machine. I am especially hoping to get my speed up so that I could be more explosive after the first step of the spin. Fortunately my bad knee is my left and not my right.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best ways to train especially while I cannot do a lot with my left leg?

Thanks,
AllieVillain

I would strongly recomend speaking to a certified CSCS strength and conditioning coach. They can be very helpfull in these situations. Did you do any PT before surgery. If so that is good, from what I understand that decreases your recovery time after surgery. I know that it is possible to come back from this type of injury but I could only recomend what I said above. Good luck and I hope that you are able to attain your goals this year.
