This may sound kind of stupid, but i am really curious. I am a freshman throwing 100', and i have been troubleshooting my technique a lot recently. I started out throwing in middle school, and developed some bad habits. One of those habits was that i used my middle finger at the end of the throw, not my index. I am not sure which finger is the proper one to preform the final release on, so im curious. Which finger do you use to throw the discus?

I believe what ever is comfortable for you, being youg and maybe smaller hands might make you seem out of what they call RIPP of the discus, but if you are able to follow through and rip the discus in half at the end of the block using the middle finger wont hamper you.

tough to say, but another factor you may want to consider is finger length. in high school, i threw off my middle finger and did reletively fine (150), but the reason being is because my index finger is significantly shorter than most people's, proportionally speaking. While most people's index finger is roughly the same length as their ring finger, mine was quite smaller, leaving a large gap on the side of my middle finger where the disc naturally came off.
However, when i threw in college I suddenly found out how to release off my index. my hands surely didn't grow much from high school, so I figured it was just a product of time and practice. if i could go back, i would force myself a little more to learn how to release properly. Give it time and practice and it'll come.

Traditionaly speeking you would throw off of your index. But I have seen it come off the middle finger as well as the pinky.
